Gradient of a curve by differentiation

I am finding the gradient of a curve by differentiation with the following Geogebra applet.

The equation of the curve is y = x²/4.

Gradient = dy/dx = x/2

If you move the point along the curve, you can find the gradient of the curve at any point.

For example, at x = 2,

dy/dx = 1
